Can psoriasis cause skin tags?

There are many skin disease that you may have to deal with at one point or another in your life. Some of them are mild, and some of them are more severe. Two options that may seem to be linked are that of psoriasis and skin tags. These are two issues on opposite sides of the spectrum. They are not within the same categories, but yet they can be linked in a way. Understanding both of them independently, and figuring out which issue is bigger and worse can help you get moving forward with certain medications, and removal.

What Is Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a skin condition that is triggered by the body’s own response to illness. It’s a problem that is associated with an immune compromise. Whenever the body has a cold, flu, or extreme stress, one can trigger the skin to start to have rashes, and more. These rashes can be like scales, and can be across the body, including the scalp, neck, and anywhere there is irritation overall. This is an issue that doesn’t go away on its own, and requires medication that is topical. While it can’t be cure, it can be helped with topical creams that a doctor can provide. The build of skin cells can form dry patches and even flake away, causing a great deal of issue for those that get it.

What Are Skin Tags?

Skin tags are associated with dermal irritation. This irritation occurs due to a variety of different issues. This includes weight gain, diabetes, allergic reaction to precious metals, and much more. There are some medical links to this, especially whenever there’s friction. Friction of the dermis can cause a great deal of issues, including small growths that come up from the skin. Small dermal growths that look like warts, zits, or polyps can be frustrating, but they are not painful.

These growths are benign, not painful, do not bleed, do not discharge or cause any major problem. It’s cosmetic in nature. While you may find that it can be uncomfortable, these are not going to cause much disruption. They can come up on ears, neckline, below breasts, in the pubic region, and other areas as well. Either way, this is not something that is going to disrupt daily routine, that’s for certain.

The Psoriasis and Skin Tags Link

Could these two things be linked? The question is simple, and the answer can get complicated. It should be noted that the two are not directly linked. However, one can lead to the others. Psoriasis can lead to dermal irritation. Dermal irritation can lead to friction of the dermis. That friction can lead to pushing up tags from the skin cells. Those tags are not the same as psoriasis, but the friction can lead to a disruption in the cellular condition.

At the end of the day, you can see a doctor to get helped with either solution. They can assist with clearing up issues with either problem. In the case of skin tags, they can remove them outright, and help you get medication for psoriasis. While psoriasis cannot be cured, tags can be removed outright.
