Is the sudden appearance of skin tags a sign of skin disease or stomach cancer?

If you were to search for symptoms that you have today, you’ll find that they very well could be cancerous. That is, if you were to search online and read all of the information that is out there. Misinformation is easy to find online, and to be honest, not everything that you may experience is going to be a sign that you have or are developing cancerous cells in your body. For instance, there are some individuals that have confused the appearance of skin tags with the early signs of stomach cancer, or even skin diseases. While the two may seem interesting, it’s actually not the same thing, nor are the two that related. Yes, there are some relations, but you have to dig a little deeper to get a full understanding of what is actually occurring when you see tags on your skin.

What Are Skin Tags?

First of all, skin tags are normally not cancerous. In fact, they are nearly always benign, and they are simple growths that come out of the skin and stay put. They are like zits, but they do not have a head that you pop, they simply stay in one place, and that’s it. They are unsightly, but traditionally, they do not hurt, they are not like zits in that they will bleed or puss. They will simply not look great, and can appear anywhere on the body where skin stretches, creases, or folds over.

Skin Cancer

Skin tags can be a sign of skin cancer. However, do not immediately panic when reading this. There’s a lot more to cancerous cells, even on the skin. When you have a tag, chances are it’s not painful, it’s not going to be irritated, and will not cause alarm. It’s just something that appears and can be taken care of in a variety of ways. Now, if it does hurt, forms clusters, lesions, or becomes uncomfortable without pressure or scratching, visit a dermatologist. They can see whether or not it’s cancerous, and can treat it fast. It should be noted that 99% of the time, you’re going to find skin tags that are nothing more than raised skin elements, nothing else. It’s extremely rare to find cancerous cells from a skin tag on the body.

What About Stomach Cancer?

Stomach cancer does have some signs. They may even manifest on the skin, but they are not skin tags. You’ll find that stomach cancers form warts and issues inside the stomach, and can manifest on the anus, or along the canal of the rectum. Polyps that reach the outside of the skin are indicators, but they are not the same as skin tags, there is something more to this. If you have a combination of issues, including stomach pain, pain during bowel movements, blood in your stool, or anal warts that are painful or are starting to cause issue, it’s time to see a specialist. They can determine if you have cancer of the stomach. However, skin tags, in the traditional sense do not relate to this issue directly.
