Skin tags versus genital warts vs moles

There are a lot of different skin issues that may appear similar. Some may even look exactly the same, and can lead you to consider using topical solutions to fix them. But here’s the kicker, certain issues are not the same, and may persist. That’s exactly what occurs in relation to skin tags, genital warts, and moles. These can all appear to be similar, but they are all different. As a result, you cannot always use the same topical formulas to remove each option, which requires a bit of focus to get through. With that in mind, you’ll need to consider a few notes in regard to each, and how they differ or even appear similar in some instances.

Skin Tags

Skin tags are raised benign tumors that can come up from the dermis in a variety of areas. They are not painful, small, irregular size, and should not pose any major problem for the average person. In fact, most people have tags due to simple friction of the skin. When skin tissue rubs against itself it can send a rush of collagen that can lead to a growth. Skin irritation, obesity, diabetes, allergic reaction, and other simple answers can be the culprit in regard to skin tags. Simply put, they are nothing to worry about, and are usually cosmetic issues.

Genital Warts

Genital warts may appear to be similar to skin tags, but they are not. They are caused due to HPV and other sexually transmitted infections. They appear on the genitals and around the pubic region. They can be painful or they can just appear, and stay put on the skin. They will not go away without medication, and perhaps even antibiotics. There is no cure for genital warts as outbreaks are associated with diseases that are sexually transmitted such as herpes and HPV. A doctor can diagnose this issue, prescribed medication and treat the problem from different approaches.

Moles

Moles are not the same as warts or tags, although they can possess serious problems. In most cases, moles are nothing more than melanocytes, benign, and even birth marks. Individuals that have these on their body will not usually see any major issue with them, unless they mutate. Mutations around moles can be a sign of skin cancer and could very well lead to a variety of problems. However, only a dermatologist can determine if a mole is in fact cancerous. There are several factors that need to be considered before a mole is considered problematic, as most are just natural skin growths.

Different Yet Similar

The similarities of these 3 skin issues relies heavily on the fact that the layers of skin share different allergen points. These issues can become infected, they can appear unsightly, and can be removed by a dermatologist. They are not the same, however. Each one has different root causes, two are not traditionally problematic, and one is directly related to sexually transmitted illnesses. Only a dermatologist can truly determine if there are no links to serious illnesses for each option, even though some may be concerned with what they may be. It’s important not to panic, as these don’t always manifest in problematic fashion.
